John LEmont
GENERAL MANAGER
John Lemont is the new General Manager and Lead Instructor of the Watersound Club Sporting Preserve and a seasoned expert in the world of shooting sports.
John began his career as a commissioned officer in the United States Army then went on to join the Rhode Island State Police where he retired as a member of the Command Staff. John was also a practicing attorney prior to retirement.
His lifelong love of the shooting sports continued to grow as he became the head guide and bird dog trainer at an exclusive hunting and fishing lodge in the stunning landscapes of Patagonia, Argentina, where he honed his skills in the pursuit of wild quail and managing a string of bird dogs amidst some of the most challenging terrains.
Further solidifying his expertise, John undertook an Advanced Bird Dog Training Apprenticeship with the renowned Ronnie Smith Kennels in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, gaining in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in bird dog training techniques.
John is a passionate and experienced bird hunter, with a wide range of expertise spanning upland, tower, driven, and waterfowl hunting. His commitment to the sport is evident in his dedication to teaching inexperienced wing shooters, using his personal dogs to enhance the learning experience while placing an unwavering emphasis on safety.
As a National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) certified instructor, John brings a wealth of knowledge about shooting sporting clays and enjoys engaging in both group and private lessons, ensuring that each participant, regardless of their experience level, leaves with improved skills and a deeper appreciation for the game.
His instructional prowess was further developed as a certified instructor in both shotgun sports and fly casting, having taught at multiple venues, both public and private, over many years.
John’s technical skills extend to the operational aspects of shooting sports, to include target setting for sporting clays courses and equipment maintenance.
This blend of practical knowledge and field experience makes John Lemont a pivotal figure at Watersound Club Sporting Preserve, where he leads by example, ensuring every Club Member enjoys a top-tier sporting experience in a safe and welcoming environment.
